Water Safety Vietnam
The Rotary Club of Mount Martha supports the work of Water Safety Vietnam Ltd in reducing the alarmingly high number of deaths by drowning that occur in Vietnam's vast number of coastal and inland waterways. This is achieved by providing leadership in the education of competent swimming and water safety instructors to deliver high quality teaching and educational programmes.
Water Safety Vietnam also promotes the opportunity for all children in Vietnam to learn swimming, survival and water safety skills to reduce the number of drowning fatalities. In Vietnam alone a child between the age of 4 and 15 drowns each day.
Volunteer Austswim teacher/trainers initialy conducted the 4 day "train the trainer" courses at various resorts where suitable swimming facilities were available. The new graduates can then go into communities and set up similar programmes, primarily aimed at children.
