From President Anne
On Wednesday we met at Rosebud with Rotary Rosebud - Rye, commencing with a tour of the warehouse with Libby Wilson.
It was great to catch up with the club and find out what they were doing. The guest speaker was Sandra Fiedeldy Rosebud - Rye International Director. Sandra spoke about their projects in Nepal. The first project is a sustainable garden project working to improve mental health with the Koshish organisation. The second project is in relation to eye health with the Fred Hollows foundation.
The Sustainable garden project teaches people to feed themselves, grow things to sell and has therapeutic benefits.
A group of Rotaractors will be going to Nepal spending time volunteering in the garden and the kitchen. We heard from Zara (and Lily via zoom) on their excitement.
Rotary Patan in Kathmandu is the implementing club. Rosebud Rye are hoping other clubs in the cluster will partner in this project.
Imagine a world where avoidable blindness is illuminated, in developing countries 9 out of 10 blind people don't need to be. A mural was painted by the women of Nepal. Sponsored by the Australian Embassy, the project has seen an activity book and glass cases created to raise money for the cause through the sale of high quality yet affordable products.
A wonderful evening of learning and fellowship and we hope to see them visit us soon.

CDS Bins at the MCSC
This past week we were fortunate to add two new collection bins for our use at the MCSC.
Under the leadership of Mark Dobson, supported by Rob Davies, Ron Najim, Peter Warren and Tom Barrett, the team went to work to provide a crushed rock base for our four bins plus our soon to be installed CDS container cage.

Shine On Awards
The Rotary International Shine On Awards Committee recognizes and celebrates those volunteers in our community who have chronic illness, ABI, ID, mental illness and/or physical disabilities.
This year’s event is to held on Sunday 19th May. Each year the Committee chooses three people with medical or disability experience either lived or professional to evaluate the people who are nominated for the Awards. Nominations come from across Victoria, parts of NSW and SA.
This year we are looking for people as above, who could set aside 3-4 hours to read, discuss and evaluate the Nominations and decide to whom they would give a trophy over and above the Citations which each Nominee receives.
If you or someone you know could assist us in this endeavor, please contact:
