  • A message from President Anne
  • Rotary Mount Martha this week
  • Bunnings BBQ 15.11.25
  • Christmas Cakes & Puddings
  • Containers 4 Community now 578,000
From President Anne

On Monday evening we had one of our best meetings. First we inducted Su Ai into our club. Please make sure that you meet Su, he is going to be a great Rotarian, and we were so pleased his wife Wanjia could be there.

The night was a celebration of two years of the CDS, collecting 572,000 eligible containers and raising $72,000. Head bin chicken Rob Davies was presented with the 500,000th eligible container and along with CDS administration guru Peter Rawlings presented certificates to our partners.

We heard about the special relationship with Mornington Community Support Centre who have benefited by $9,300 directly from this partnership.

We heard from Sarah from Mornington Yacht Club …

… and Pam from Mount Martha Life Saving Club about their relationships with the Containers for Community.

Gary Sanford from Community Bank Mount Martha spoke about the grants that they have provided and how far reaching this project is in our community and the great benefits.

It certainly was a night to celebrate community and collaboration and their was a true sense of what a difference this is making, not only from a fundraising perspective but the huge environmental impact.

Thank you to all our bin chickens who go about the task of collecting the containers 365 days a year, rain, hail or shine.

Thank you to Allison from the Alexandra Park Pavilion for her assistance and support for the evening.

And heartfelt thanks to President Anne on the food preparation and to her wonderful helpers serving up the food, Susan Coyle, Mark Dobson, Rosie and Guilia from MCSC and Christine Davies.

This week we have our AGM and it is vital that we have a quorum, so please be there. We also have a project meeting following the AGM and a board meeting prior, at 4.30 pm.

Thank you to Robert Cook and Su Ai for their photographic contributions from the CDS Dinner last Monday.

Bunnings BBQ 15.11.25

On Saturday we had a Bunnings BBQ, and it was a busy day with net takings of $2,967.

$1,000 dollars will be going to the Mental Health Safety Net and a further allocation to pay for the food for the bacon and egg roll breakfast for MHSN this Friday morning.

We thank MHSN for their volunteers who kindly assisted at the BBQ.

Rotary Traditional Christmas Fruit Cakes and Puddings.

The club is once again selling Christmas cakes and puddings. Those who purchased cakes previously know how delicious they are!

The Christmas cake project is a project of Rotary Darwin South in District 9560. Rotary Darwin South donates the profits to The Rotary Foundation - and Rotary Mount Martha will be credited for the amount that we raise.

Rotary Mount Martha will make a small amount from the sale of each cake which will go into our club account.

Cakes come in a reusable tin for $22 or in a box for $20, and they will make a great gift for Christmas!

If you would like to order, then please contact Phyl Scales - phylscales@yahoo.com or text 0419 138 187 - and payment details will be advised on receipt of your order.
