From President Anne

Welcome to many of our Mount Martha Traders who have been subscribed to our Bulletin publication from this week! And thank you again to you all for your support of the Village Bauble display during Christmas.

What an inspirational meeting we had last week!

We heard from President Dave Wilson (Frankston Sunrise) about the Prostate Probe for Frankston hospital, a very worthy cause.

Next we heard from Rotaractors President Lily, Charlotte and Daisy about their amazing trip to Nepal.

We had visitors from Mount Eliza, Somerville Tyabb, Rosebud Rye, Frankston Sunrise and our Balcombe Grammar Interact Club!

First Sandra Fiedeldy who accompanied the Rotaractors gave an introduction and then these young people shared their stories and we went on a journey with them and saw the impact that Rotaract and Rotary has on a global level.

They shared the projects and passion they had been involved with from murals, community gardens and glass (spectacle) frames. They developed strong bonds with Nepali Rotaractors and no one was prouder than our regular visitor from Nepal, Rotarian Raj Rijal.

The big take away was that it doesn’t always take much money to make a difference and the power of community.

We also presented the Peninsula Rotaract club with a donation of toothbrushes and toothpaste.

On Wednesday night we took part in the first Mount Martha Community Pulse forum, a collaboration between our club and the Mount Martha Community Grapevine Noticeboard. It was held at the Mount Martha Life Saving Club and discussed the restoration of the boardwalk.

The meeting participants unanimously supported the restoration of the boardwalk in it’s current location and configuration at 1.5 metres wide.

The Mayor, Councillor Anthony Marsh went through the various options and supported the outcry for community involvement and community capital projects!

Many thanks to Peter, Sean and Nikki from the Grapevine and Wayne Jenkins for his presentation on the history and Roger Annear and Kevin Gibson for the photographs they supplied.

We also received a cheque from Bentons Square this week from the Sweeten the Season and our thanks for their ongoing support to our club and our community.

To finish the week we had a Village BBQ with the Balcombe Grammar Interact Club in support of Quinn’s Place.

We thank the Community Bank Mount Martha for their sponsorship and a record $945 was raised

Monique Story (Quinn’s mum) came to meet the Interactors, she had tears in her eyes and was so impressed by these young people working to support other young people in our community.

This week is committee meeting week and we continue to strive to strengthen our community in the work we do, it is powerful!
