This week was committee meetings and Peter and I attended Community, Youth and International meetings where we had further discussion around the Club Fundraising Plan and the Project Driven Club concept. The feedback was very positive, with the committees now encouraged to lodge their Project Criteria documents.
This week we have Ross Kilborn coming to speak about emergency housing in Mornington. We have visitors coming from other clubs and I encourage you all to attend to hear about this important development to assist with the homelessness crisis.
Yesterday Peter Wiltshire and I presented certificates to our new Interactors in a secondary Assembly.
I provided an update which included a reminder that Rotary Interact started its Balcombe journey only last year. We have now grown to include 22 members from Year 7 to Year 12.
I also provided an overview of our year so far in that we have raised $945 for Quinn’s Place which will be used to buy an 80s style arcade game for their youth hangout in Mornington. And on Saturday that we raised $675 for Mornington Community Support Centre which will go towards supporting vulnerable members of our community. In June, we will hold an evening dinner meeting at the Support Centre and have a tour of their facilities.
Later this year we will raise awareness and funds for a range of local and international charities as we seek to make positive change.
I finished by encouraging students who are interested in making positive change to attend one of our weekly lunchtime meetings.
I had the pleasure of attending the Mount Martha Life Saving Club awards and sponsors night on Friday and the club was certainly recognised for our contribution and also for the Containers for Community.
The MMLSC club awarded certificates and badges to their first official bin chickens Deb Cron and Keith Hunter.
The stories of dedication and service were many and also real life saving, such a wonderful group of volunteers to be associated with.

BGS Mock Interviews 26.6.25
Balcombe Grammar is asking for our assistance again this year for their Year 9 Mock Interview program. The interviews will take place on THURSDAY JUNE 26. We are asked to arrive around 8.15 and should be finished about 1.30. Morning tea and a delicious lunch are provided. (Please indicate if you have any dietary requirements.)

This is a great program. We meet some wonderful young people and further strengthen our relationship with the school and local community so I hope that many of our club members will participate. If you haven’t taken part before, don’t worry as we do the interviews in pairs and the “old hands” will help you.
