From President Anne
Such a great meeting on Monday, and it was wonderful to be joined by guests Liz Stillwell, Wendy Hertog, Wendy Gold and Peter Barnet and guest speaker Mick Simmons from The Mental Health Safety Net.
Mick talked about the importance of education and the work he does with his “safe talk” training. How to recognise the signs and who to connect them with. Suicide is such a devastating thing for everyone involved with the individual. Recognising the signs saves lives!
Training happens at schools, workplaces and at community venues. Mick works hard to deliver as many free training sessions for the community as possible.
Mick Simmons and the MHSN are helping to save lives!
We presented Mick with a cheque for $1,000, of which $769 was from our last day at Bentons Square where Mick and his team collected donations while we managed the BBQ. It was a great day of collaboration and I do hope that as a club we can do more to assist with this vital service.
It was clear the gratitude for this relationship and our contribution!
So many questions were asked and the interest in this subject was very evident!
Mick also thanked Roger for assisting with an Australia Post grant application to be used for the printing of another run of the wonderful resource book. Refer to top right side of web page to view the Resource Booklet.
This week we are meeting on Wednesday night with the Rosebud Rye club at 5pm at 26 Henry Lawson Drive in Rosebud Industrial Estate. Please RSVP attendance to Rob Davies if you are attending.
Please ensure that you RSVP to our 50th Anniversary celebration invitation. It will be a memorable event.

The Rotary Foundation
Transform your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.
Did you know that in 2022-23, The Rotary Foundation helped fund nearly 1,100 global grants, about 470 district grants, and more than 320 disaster response grants? If you haven’t had a chance recently to contribute to our Foundation, now is a wonderful time to give the gift of Rotary and help Rotary members continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
A gift of any size can make a big impact. You can protect children from diseases like polio, supply filters that clean people’s drinking water, help families replace livestock after disasters, or supply medical equipment that gives newborns a healthy start. No matter the amount, your gift to The Rotary Foundation will make a difference.

Shine On Awards
The Rotary International Shine On Awards Committee recognizes and celebrates those volunteers in our community who have chronic illness, ABI, ID, mental illness and/or physical disabilities.
This year’s event is to held on Sunday 19th May. Each year the Committee chooses three people with medical or disability experience either lived or professional to evaluate the people who are nominated for the Awards. Nominations come from across Victoria, parts of NSW and SA.
This year we are looking for people as above, who could set aside 3-4 hours to read, discuss and evaluate the Nominations and decide to whom they would give a trophy over and above the Citations which each Nominee receives.
If you or someone you know could assist us in this endeavor, please contact:
